PlainStamp: Timestamp Camera
PlainStamp puts the date, time, and place on photos and videos at the moment you take them. Open the app and shoot. There is no account, no ad before the shutter, and no forced logo.
Use it for site visits, deliveries, inspections, property condition photos, field work, school projects, and travel, anywhere “when and where” matters. The guide is how to put the date, time, and GPS location on photos.
Capture
The camera is the phone’s own camera system, with flash, a timer, a grid, and pinch zoom. You can switch among the lenses the phone offers, including ultra-wide where the phone has one. The volume keys work as a shutter. Saving happens in the background, so you can take the next photo immediately.
The stamp
- Date and time in 9 formats, with the UTC offset and time-zone name if you want them.
- Location from the phone’s GPS: decimal or degrees/minutes/seconds, plus accuracy, altitude, and speed. The listing says this works offline.
- An optional street address.
- A title or project name, a note of up to 3 lines, and an automatic sequence number.
- Your own logo or signature.
- Six positions, four sizes, seven colours, four fonts, and a shadow, outline, or box behind the text.
- The preview matches the file that is saved.
The street-address line is optional. PlainStamp itself has no internet permission. The privacy policy says a street address is produced by the phone’s built-in geocoder, which on most phones is system software and may use the network. GPS coordinates do not need that lookup.
Video can carry a stamp whose clock ticks in every frame, with or without sound. Long recordings are saved in parts of 10, 30, or 60 minutes so a long take is not lost if something goes wrong.
Photos you already have, and the log
Pick photos from the gallery and stamp them with their own date and place, or with the current time. Pick a video and burn in a stamp whose clock runs with the video. Originals are not changed.
You can keep the untouched original next to every stamped photo. Each photo and video is listed with the device time, time zone, GPS fix and its accuracy, a comparison of the GPS clock and the phone clock, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. Later you can check whether a file still matches the fingerprint in the log, and export the log as a PDF report or a CSV spreadsheet.
The stamp and the log record what the phone reports. If the clock or the location is wrong, the stamp is wrong too.
Only the camera permission is required. Location and the microphone are requested only when you turn those features on, and location is never used in the background. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no account.
