PlainPlan is a floor plan maker for a phone or tablet. Sketch one room, or a whole house floor by floor, and the wall lengths and room areas update as you draw. There is no account and nothing to unlock: every tool is available from the start.

Follow how to draw a floor plan to scale on your phone. Plans are approximate. Measure again on site before you order materials or instruct a builder.

Drawing

  • Drag to draw a wall. Corners join on their own.
  • Walls snap to straight and 45° angles and line up with other corners.
  • The room tool drags out a rectangle with four walls and its area.
  • Type an exact length for any wall, in metres, centimetres, or feet and inches.
  • Drag corners, walls, doors, and furniture. Pinch to zoom and use two fingers to pan.
  • Undo and redo one step at a time. An eraser is included, and a wall can be split in two.

Doors, double doors, sliding doors, windows, and open passages snap into walls. One tap flips the swing or the hinge side. The furniture library has 45 items, including beds, sofas, tables, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, stairs, desks, and a car. You can resize, rotate, and label them.

Measurements and tracing

Wall lengths show on screen and in every export. You also get room areas and perimeters, totals for each floor, and a total for the whole home, plus a measure tool for any distance. Units are metric or imperial.

To trace, put a photo of a paper plan or a listing floor plan under the drawing, set the scale from one known distance, adjust the opacity, and draw over it. You can also rescale the whole drawing from one wall whose length you know.

Saving and sharing

Plans save on the phone after every change, with no waiting spinner. Leaving the app for a phone call does not drop the drawing. A single .plan file is the backup you can import on another phone.

Export a PDF at a true scale (1:50, 1:100, and similar) with a scale bar and room areas, a PNG, or a DXF for CAD, or print directly. Several floors stay in one plan, one page per floor. A DXF opened on a computer can be viewed in Chrome with DraftLens.

PlainPlan has no internet permission and no account. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. A plan leaves the phone only when you share it.
